Distinctive Unit Insignia

Description/Blazon
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 3/16 inches (3.02cm) in height overall consisting of a white vertical arrow, point at the top, bearing a blue star upon the head, flanked by two curved gold arrows one on each side, stems rising from the base, all surmounted by a gold oriental dragon entwined around the stem of the vertical arrow; all above a circular red scroll in base inscribed in gold letters "SUPPORT FIRST."

Symbolism
The white arrow and colors red and blue are suggested by the shoulder sleeve insignia of the First Logistical Command. The central straight stem acts as a support of the other design elements and signifies the administrative support mission. In conjunction with the curved side arrows reference is made to the flexibility of the organization and the capability of its units for the accomplishment of missions which vary widely in scope. The blue star at the peak connotes the required skill and leadership in administrative planning and operations. The oriental dragon as an emblem of wisdom and control of elements also indicates the organization's effective accomplishments.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 29th General Support Group on 20 May 1968. It was redesignated on 21 May 1980 for the 29th Support Group.
